WOW! We are so grateful for the outpouring of support and love at our Backyard BBQ Fundraiser. We cannot thank you enough for helping us raise over $15,000 for our programming! A big shout out to all our speakers including Chief Deputy Prosecutor of Washtenaw County Victoria Burton-Harris, Ypsilanti Mayor Nicole Brown, Pastor Jim Debner, Retired Pastor Dave Hendricks, Julius Buzzard (Executive Director at Growing Hope), Sheri Wander (Peace House Ypsi & Pet Pals), and Cormac Levenson (Board Member at We the People Opportunity Farm) who shared about why they love FedUp. We also want to say thank you to all the volunteers and our incredible staff who spent the whole weekend preparing for this event. Y’all are amazing and we could not have done it without you! 

Thank you to all the families who supported us during our pilot week of Mini Chef Camp! On Day One, Kids learned knife skills from our Kitchen Lead Cory, and made homemade granola to top off their own yogurt parfaits. Day Two, the Mini Chefs used their learned knife skills to chop veggies for salsas, fajitas, and guacamole to make their very own tacos. Day Three, our Chefs turned into bakers and spent the day making their very own sweet treats from scratch including cupcakes and cookies ! On the final day, the Mini Chefs made their own pizza dough, finished off their pizzas with homemade sauce and their favorite toppings, then got to box them up to take home to their families! 

We are feeling so excited about this Mini Chef Camp as both a fundraiser to help support our mission and an opportunity for greater community involvement. We want to make this camp accessible to everyone by offering scholarships to families who cannot afford it, and we need your help! You can donate to this scholarship fund at our website or by clicking on the button below. Our next Mini Chef Camp will take place July 24th through July 27th. At this time we will be able to host 20 Mini Chefs ages 5-10 and any kids 11 and up will be invited as Junior Chef Leaders. Our minimum donation for this week of camp is $200, but if you are in need of a scholarship please contact kim@fedupministries.org. We will soon post the registration link on both our website and social media!

On July 6th, we will be hosting our first LiftUp meal service. We’ll gather at 16 S Washington St, Ypsilanti 48197 at 10am for breakfast and worship. This location maybe familiar to you because, yes, it is the home of Growing Hope’s downtown Ypsilanti Farmers Market. Our partners at Growing Hope are graciously hosting us as we deepen our partnership and bring a weekly free breakfast meal to Ypsi. All are welcome, and worship is not required to receive a meal. This service was made possible by the Calvin Institute of Worship and their generous grant funding. We wanted to launch a free breakfast in Ypsilanti since there are currently no options available for folks. This free meal service will occur every Thursday morning at 10 am! If you or anyone you know would like to participate as a musician or share in another form of worship, please reach out to Pastor Anna at pastoranna@fedupministries.org. 

This week we want to shine a spotlight on Pastor Michelle who has been a consistent, regular volunteer with us. She is always so flexible and willing to help out wherever we need. She has served our God & Grub meal, organized donations in the pantry, prepped food for our YMOW partnership, served meals from the Food Truck, and so much more! We are so blessed to have her as part of our regular team. It is always such a joy to have her in our kitchen! Thank you Pastor Michelle!
